Christy Dawn makes sustainable dresses from pieces of deadstock fabric – excess rolls of fabric left over from larger fashion houses. As the brand grows, they are evolving from sustainable to regenerative with their farm-to-closet initiative. The journey in regenerative farming started with land in Erode, India. Together with Oshadi Collective, a community of traditional farmers and craftspeople, they grow their own cotton using regenerative practices. Oshadi processes the cotton using centuries-old methods which don’t require chemicals but work in harmony with nature. With a regenerative supply chain, the brand’s goal is to establish a reciprocal relationship with the planet and minimise pollution.

A trailblazer among the most sustainable fashion brands, VEJA stands out as the pioneer in crafting lightweight, breathable, and waterproof sneakers using fabric derived entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Known as B-mesh, this fabric is composed entirely of recycled polyester (polyethylene terephthalate or PET). In Brazil, plastic bottles are meticulously collected, sorted, and processed into plastic flakes, which are then transformed into polyester fibre. On average, it takes the upcycling of three plastic bottles to produce a single pair of VEJA shoes. Furthermore, VEJA incorporates recycled cotton sourced from textile industry offcuts, aligning with seasonal needs and designs. The leather components of VEJA sneakers are sourced exclusively from tanneries certified Gold by the Leather Working Group (L.W.G.), an independent organization of tanneries and manufacturers committed to sustainable practices. These certifications ensure that no hazardous chrome, heavy metals, or acids are present in the tanning process. Additionally, all VEJA sneaker boxes are crafted from recycled cardboard, further solidifying the brand's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Genia Mineeva, founder of BEEN London and former journalist at the BBC, holds a strong belief that the climate crisis stems from the relentless extraction of virgin materials. In response, BEEN London exclusively sources materials slated for landfills, transforming them into timeless and classic designs. Discarded leather trimmings are skillfully repurposed into premium totes and crossbodies, while single-use plastic bottles are given new life as silky linings and zips. Additionally, pineapple leaves and apple peels are ingeniously transformed into vegan leather alternatives. With a focus on functionality and durability over fleeting trends, BEEN London creates designs built to withstand all seasons. Prioritizing sustainability in every aspect, materials are shipped via sea routes to minimize carbon emissions from transportation. In a recent endeavor, BEEN London has partnered with the Peru-based NGO Camino Verde to support reforestation efforts in the Amazon Rainforest by actively participating in tree planting initiatives.
